If you are looking for a cosmetic dental solution to improve the appearance of your smile, dental veneers may be the solution for you. These thin porcelain shells are fixed to the front of the teeth to change how they look. Almeda Dental in Houston is happy to provide this cosmetic solution to give you a smile you’ll love.
Veneers are thin, custom-made shells that, when fixed to the front of the teeth, can change their appearance, concealing minor flaws and treating issues such as:
Veneers are a popular procedure because they are a simple solution that is affordable and versatile. They offer an advantage over crowns because they remove a minimal amount of the tooth surface in preparation.
At Almeda Dental in Houston, when placing veneers, a local anesthetic will be applied to minimize pain and discomfort. The teeth must be prepared to receive the veneers by having a small amount of the surface (enamel) removed. This will allow the veneers enough room to fit. An impression will then be taken of the prepared tooth (or teeth). Using the impression, a dental laboratory will create the veneers, which usually takes about two to four weeks. At the end of the appointment, temporary veneers will be placed onto the prepared teeth to keep them protected.
Once the completed veneers come back from the dental laboratory, you will return to Almeda Dental to have the temporary veneers removed and the permanent veneers placed on the prepared teeth. Your dentist will check the fit and make adjustments if needed. The teeth will be cleaned, polished, and etched before the veneers are bonded using a special cement. The teeth will be cured using a special light beam to harden and strengthen them. To complete the procedure, excess cement will be removed, and the fit will be checked one more time.
Because of the materials used and how they can be matched to the color of the natural teeth, veneers are virtually unnoticeable. They have an added benefit of being stain-resistant. If you are interested in having veneers placed on any problem teeth you may have, contact us at Almeda Dental to book an appointment in Houston.
